I think you have to reach a certain level before you can? Not sure, but I seem to remember that being the case over at SC and mu43.com. I might be wrong.

Probably so. I've seen that for other things on forums before, but not for putting up an avatar.

My avatar is a selfie I took as part of a yearbook photo I did with my middle school photography students. Since we got to take our own group photo, we got the coolest photo in the book
