Born in the fall of 1917, my neighbor turned 104 years old this past October. She would survive the 1918 pandemic but her Mother wouldn't, as she lost her mom when she was just 6 months old. At 104 she has a mind and wit as sharp as any 50 year old that I know, and I am always amazed by her ability to recall personal stories decades old in vivid detail. I stop by and check on her everyday to see if she needs anything, and to help myself put my own life in perspective. It really is an enlightening and humbling experience that I always seem to walk away better for.
