Sigma Ballard Locks & Dusk portraits DP1

Regular
Hey guys,

I'm getting more and more happy with my DP1. I'm actually trying to make some money available for a DP2s... though this is a long term prospect :)

I went down to the Ballard Locks where the fishing boats come into Seattle. The Deadliest Catch show boats all go through here when unloading their crabs. We got a whole TWO HOURS of actual, honest-to-god sunlight! This time of year, that is pretty rare.

I also went to Golden Gardens beach, which is a nice rec area in the Northeast part of town. Sun was unforgiving!

Some portraits with flash, others are natural light. No HDR used on any, #4 is especially impressive considering the shooting conditiond!

Nice shots. You're making me homesick. The first house my wife and I bought together (before she was even my wife) was on Crown Hill, an easy walk to an overlook park that looked down on Golden Gardens. Had our first daughter there. Used to walk or ride our bikes down into Ballard to show our baby the locks, like she knew what the heck we were showing her... Its a wonderful neighborhood. I love where we live now, but I miss Seattle a lot... Thanks for the trip back...
