Leica Battery for the M6 Classic

Hi guys,

The manual says that I need 2x SR44 batteries. Would LR44's work or would it damage the camera? I have like around 20 of the LR44's sitting around.

Thanks!

LR44 is an alkaline battery, 1.5v. SR44 is a silver-oxide battery, 1.5v. You should be fine using them.

The difference: as the batteries age, the alkaline battery moves closer to 1.3v before giving out. I've also noted that alkaline batteries tend to corrode before a silver-oxide battery after they are dead. We are talking 5+ years. SO- I would personally have no problem using an Alkaline battery, but be more inclined to replace it more often and not leave it in a camera that sits around unused for a long time.
