I know, I know. Another bike trip. Sorry. It's what we do, and so it's a lot of what I shoot. Borrowed a friend's X-T1 so I could shoot as I'm used to.

A sampler platter:

Thanks! I set the shutter speed at ... 1/60th I think? Then cranked down the aperture to maybe f11 on the Rokinon 12, and it took a few tries to get everything still enough.

^^ Agreed. I also envy your rides. I live in a much smaller community, but the traffic and drivers are terrible, and even in the few spots where there are "bike lanes", they share the highway with drivers going at near-interstate speeds. I'd love to be near a bikeable location with the kind of scenery in photos 3-7.

You're going to kill me, but I'm about to do it again soon. Leaving Thursday for 10 days to bike from Pittsburgh to Washington DC on the Allegheny Pass bike trail. It'll be about 340 miles total, and we're towing our daughter behind a borrowed electric assist bike on her trail-a-bike, the same green thing she's on above. So, 6 days or so of about 60 miles a day. I'll be scarce next week, then back around afterwards. Gotta do these trips before she gets too heavy to haul, or wait til she's very strong.

As for areas of safe / easy biking, Cambridge has stretches that are great, but the whole area struggles with real changes to connect all the dots. The cape, above, has long stretches of super easy riding, but the base of the cape is a gauntlet of unpleasant on-street riding that you have to get through to come home.

It's funny . . . I hike a lot, and did a 15+ mile hike on a converted rail trail over the weekend. I was a bit sore and stiff the next day, but I had a great time. However, I've tried mountain biking twice, on a few of the easier trails that I've hiked. It kicked my tail badly, and I was sore for several days afterward. I have ridden rail trails with no problem, though. I just need to make the effort to pull my bike out more often and drive to some of the more bike-friendly locales around.
