You're reminding me of one of my farmer pals from back in the 1970s... I think I have to try to learn how to scan so I can share him with you all here. I spent many hours listening to old "Windy" tell me his tales.

Actually, I have never even thought about photographing people until I found the 'Real street thread' on mu-43.com.

you should be able to figure it out...

I deliberately used slow shutter speed to introduce motion blur. I have another version of the same scene shot at 1/250, it's very sharp and very boring.

Jeez man, you say you never even though about doing street photography until you saw the "Real Street" thread here and you're already turning out stuff like THIS?!?!?!? I'm just gonna put my cameras back in the drawer - that's an extraordinary shot!

BBW, thanks! This shot would not be possible without Samsung EX1. I found that at higher sensitivities it is a wonderful b&w camera capable of shooting even in our poorly-lit subway. It has that pleasant grainy and gritty look, especially at ISO 3200.

By the way, the violinist was playing Heifetz' violin transcription of Khachaturian's 'Sabre Dance.' It sounded really strange without the piano part, but, according to my untrained ears, his technique was good.

Nope, it wasn't pure luck. You saw this scene and you chose not just to take the photograph but to use the shutter speed to cause the blur. I'm with Ray on this!:bravo-009:

Stratokaster that is one awesome image. I wouldn't change a thing....exposure, composition, B+W conversion. All spot on in my books. Congratulations mate, a moment in time that you should be very proud to have captured.

Beautiful, Pete. I really enjoy your portraits - the way you often choose fill the screen with the person's face and personality - so much life bursts through. You are definitely connected!

Today I tried to use my Panasonic G2 as a street camera. Not bad, and the shots have this subtle 3D look because its DOF with a 20/1.7 lens is more shallow than that of Samsung EX1. I had to add grain in PP because original files were too clean for my taste.

TraamisVOS, this is a great shot, a well captured-moment.

Also I love that Leica look. In 1990s, my father briefly collaborated with Christine de Grancy, a well-known Austrian photographer, who at the time was shooting with Leica. I didn't care about photography back then, but I loved the look of her images. I see the same subtle tonality and beautifully contrasty out-of-focus areas in your picture.
