B&W Black & White with water in the frame

Exposed for the very bright sunlight hitting the building so that I could preserve the details on the building, doing this gave a really dark frame with a good exposure on the building (below is the SOOC image). Cropped first to get to the final layout of the image, then masked to be able to tweak the building and the river separately to the rest of the image, bringing up the exposure and shadows to reveal more of the rest of the skyline without compromising the building and then further increasing the exposure of the river so that stood out from the skyline and provided a path through to the lit building. Then I did a B&W conversion and tweaked blacks/whites/shadows/highlights until I got to to image above.

Okay, and how did you calculate exposure for the building?
A. Super spot meter?
2. Incident meter held in beam of light?
III. WYSIWYG?
D. WAG?
