Leica Showcase Carl Zeiss Jena 13.5cm F4 Sonnar, uncoated

Adapted to Leics mount using a Jupiter-11 focus mount. This one is from 1937, originally on Contax RF Mount.

Used a 0.01mm shim for final setting- focus is good from 2.5m closest focus to infinity. The J-11 mount, and wartime Zeiss mounts for Leica had the same limitation.

This is a 4 element in 3 group Sonnar- and is amazingly free of distortion and is flare resistant.

Saturated colors, and plenty of contrast to my eyes. These are 80 year old, uncoated optics in this lens.

I DID shoot with the 1970 J-11 lens that was originally in the focus mount- it was good, perfect glass, and is now a Contax RF mount lens. This Zeiss lens is better.

Some Fall 2019 shots, taken late in the day. Warm enough to grill outside today.

Shots are wide-open. I used a J-11 mount to convert this lens for the Leica, close-focus is limited to 2.5m.

This lens captures the blue in the sky as I see it. This lens is uncoated.
