Smartphone Cell Phone Camera photos

Cell phones don't support f managing?
The phones capture images/videos with wide open lens only, right?
Sort of. On my iPhone 12 Mini it's possible.

Open the Apple camera app and select Portrait shooting mode.
On the top right of the screen, click the 'f' in a circle.
A slider appears at the bottom of the screen to adjust the f stop.

Caveat: I know it's there but haven't played with it.

After a long long flight, we were rewarded with this beautiful sunrise over Australia as we approached our top of descent into Sydney.

It's not a physical variable aperture, it is a computational photography setting that determines the level of background/foreground blur based on the settings chosen, focus subject and subject distance.
