I always thought Wimbledon was the one with the Borgs ...Star wars is the one with the Borgs, right?
Hahaha, couldn't agree more on the names (and the languages in general - especially compared against Tolkien).Love Mandalorian, it's not too serious and they did such a good job with the effects, it's the popcorn SW experience on TV. Whenever SW gets too wrapped up in its own self seriousness, I have to roll my eyes. One of the most annoying things for me is the silly names, I was raised on Tolkien but SW always irks me with its names that are solely picked for their ear sound, being outlandish while kind of unintentionally punning off of language that evokes whatever the character or place is meant to resemble.
Awesome! I've really enjoyed the effects throughout the series so far - the stormtrooper battle was a great set piece in the most recent episode, notwithstanding some of the decisions around how the protagonist acted... JETPACK much? Why was it suddenly so heavy he needed to remove it?Hahaha, couldn't agree more on the names (and the languages in general - especially compared against Tolkien).
Not taking itself too seriously is a huge part why 'The Mandalorian' works for me (eg vs the recent movies).
And as for the visual effects - I'm proud to have worked on the most recent episode ('The Tragedy')... Being able to flatten a stormtrooper with a rolling boulder (Indiana Jones style) was definitely a highlight of the year for me :-D
Haha, don't get me started on that whole removing the jetpack, but didn't bother to put it back on in order to fly up that hill in 10 seconds, instead of running with a full suit of Mandalorian beskar armor!Awesome! Wow you watched it at Mann's Chinese Theater in '77? That's classic! I did see Return of the Jedi in the theaters as a kid (I think I was 3 or 4?) Hence my appreciation for the emo Skywalker with robotic hand! :roflmao:I have a vivid memory of my uncle pulling me out of school on opening day in 77 without explanation, waiting in a horrific line at Mann's Chinese and my mouth dropping at the opening scene with the star destroyer.
My uncle rocked!
Enjoying the Mando and looking forward to the new lineup!
