I escaped the wet winter in my hometown and went to Malta for Christmas, only taking my P7700 to see if I could live without my system camera. Attached some pictures, all Jpeg, processed in LR3, with Silver FX for the B&W conversions. Hope you like one or two.

Finally, two pictures both in B&W and color, just to settle a small argument between me and my girlfriend I would appreciate opinions as to which ones are better...:)

Lively warm colors. I like the B&W also. It looks like a good place to spend the holidays, far from cold northern winter. It doesn't look very crowded also. Happy new years!

Nice pics, looks like an interesting place!
As much as I generally prefer colour over B&W, in this case it's no contest - B&W for the both of them!

I like the photos and color. I was wondering what the Nikon 7700 was like. THanks for sharing.
seems very respectible.

Thanks David. I quite like the P7700. I am sure something like the RX100 gives better results, but I dont care much for the handling of the Sony. It is really a little too small for me (although of course that is a personal matter and if you are in the market for a truly pocketable high quality camera it is an excellent choice). I personally prefer something a little beefier, and think the P7700 is a joy to handle, feels really well in my hands and has all the dials and buttons you could possibly need for manual control. Add to that a very versatile lens (28-200 with F2 at the wide end and still respectable F4 at the tele end) and the swivel screen and it is my perfect travel camera, and the output is good enough for my purpose (at the moment, sure future versions of this and for instance the Canon G15 will feature bigger and better sensors to compete with the Sony RX100).

Pim: I am on your boat. I do have a pocket GRD III . But I really like my Panasonic for all the controls. I like things to be functional.
I also have a Pentax K30 for when I need quality with sensor. But if I was traveling on tour group holiday. the Panasonic is really perfect.
think the serious compacts cameras have come a long way. each for their own. You know u got the rightr camera when everything
is so easy and within reach.
