Anda, Bohol, Philippines. Coffee culture is pretty new here, for decades the country subsisted on instant coffee in convenient 3-in-1 packets (coffee, milk, and sugar). Things are slowly changing for the better.

Good to know the culture is changing. Some of the worst coffee that I have had was on the islands of Java and Sumatra. Go figure.

I can't really comment on what's going on in Java or Sumatra as I've never been there and they are in a different country.
Yeah I know that it is a different country. My point was more about for a country that is known for producing coffee, it is a shame that you cannot easily get a really good cup of coffee. But then again, I was in a remote area of Sumatra in a company camp.

I had Sumatra-origin coffee this very morning, it was quite good.

I'm still confused why you associated my post about Philippine coffee culture with Sumatra? They're completely unrelated.

Yep, I've found the same to be true in Latin American coffee producing countries.

It's not uncommon for export-oriented countries to save the good stuff for the export market because there's more profit there.
