Trying to support some of our local restaurants since they are mandated to be closed for indoor dining for two weeks.
So I called an order to a local Vietnamese place and they took the order and payment via phone.
Then I drove there and called them from the car. They brought the food out a left it on a chair outside.
Then I grabbed it and gave them a big thanks through thee window!
They were so grateful that I came. There was one other person waiting around in there car for an order. Just hoping they can last it out. I fear the two week mandate will be extended.

Do schools feed the kids over there? Not here in Oz, parents have to supply the food no matter what, and here its only lunchtime.
It depends on the school district and type of school (private vs. public, charter, etc.) and age group but generally free lunches are provided to students of low-income families and in some cases breakfast as well.

We have waited years for medical cannabis oil to be legally available in Australia. My wife is semi-bedridden with chronic back pain and fibromyalgia and finally has an appt tomorrow at a clinic. She asked me to postpone it as there have been cases of covid-19 in the specialists' centre where the clinic is. Oh well, she is used to waiting and we have our son living in as our carer to shop and cook etc. Lots are worse off.

Agreed, same here. Lunch is provided and those families that can afford pay full price, those that are struggling pay a reduced amount and those that cannot pay at all geet "free" lunch. Taxes subsidize those not paying full price. Just in the last 10 years have they added breakfast to the mix. My current school district has a higher number of lower income families.

I have always had a practice when I go to a medical facility of looking for the seat farthest from where anyone else is sitting. This week I took my wife to her first follow-up after her hip surgery. People kept sitting near me, and I kept getting up and moving . . . especially when the older woman who was hacking and snorting sat down two seats away. I also used lots of the hand sanitizer the staff had posted at a table in the middle of the room.

I'm more sick of hearing / reading about the c-virus than I would be if I actually had it! :dash2:
It is a fine line between staying informed about it and getting consumed by it (literally and figuratively).
My wife works in the medical field, so we have been basically living it since the first confirmed case was reported in Cleveland.

I have to help her "decompress" after she has been there for 12-15 hours.

I completely get where you are coming from, though.

well, it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better. I suggest a break from all media and social forums.....there is also an "ignore thread" button at the top of the thread. Feel free to use it. I understand it's overwhelming.

Had my dental appointment after having lost a chunk of tooth in dinner, and it was caps, masks, gowns and gloves all the way. IN the waiting area, we all maintained a proper distance from each other. Fewer people there than usual, so either they arent booking as many in (separating appointment times) or people are cancelling existing appointments.

I went for a morning run yesterday by the nearby lake, and I avoided every other runner like they had the plague...literally! Some people just don't get the gravity of the situation by not practicing proper physical distancing.

Our family usually has a tradition of Friday Pho or what we've named Phoriday! We're also worried about our local restaurants, some aren't even making enough money to justify their pick-up orders.
