I was very glad that I got in the woods early yesterday. Even though I started my bike ride shortly after 7 AM, there were already several vehicles at some of the isolated parking spots as I drove deeper into the forest. I deliberately chose the most remote circuit possible on those trails, and still saw a handful of people as the morning wore on. I was back to my car shortly after 11 AM, and the parking area was packed, with several more vehicles arriving as I loaded my bike. It's a big park, and quite rural, but I saw numerous vehicles driving into the forest as I drove out, and a lot of people were milling around the main road through the forest. I know the weather was expected to be very nice after days of rain, but I've never seen the place so crowded. It really does pay to be the Early Bird sometimes.
