I co-chair the photography club at work, and today we did a photo walk around our campus looking for cool lines, textures, and angles. It was a fun afternoon, and I grabbed a handful of shots I quite like. Most architectural stuff I shoot I prefer in B&W and with a wide angle, so I brought along my 14-35mm. I also brought my new 50mm f/1.2, and am happy I did; I’m falling in love with this lens. Here’s a sample of shots.

At this point, I somehow nudged something and was shooting at ISO 12,800. Thankfully DxO saved the day again.

Wonderful excellent and inspiring shots. What a cool work-place and what a brilliant representation thereof.
I see something shot at 1/25th. Was that hand-held? Or did you wander around with a tripod?
Thanks Irene. All of the shots were handheld. Those ones in particular were with the ultra wide, so the shutter speed was still faster than the focal length was long, and the lens has IS as well as the very good IBIS in the camera allowed for me to take those.

Nice set of photos, Chris. My favorite, in terms of your assignment, is the first shot (maybe #10 in the set) of the fluorescent lights set at random angles above the security turnstiles which are orderly and uniform. I'm confident there's some sort of subconscious message in that design. My second favorite is the one looking down the stairwell. Your pics also confirmed for me just how creepy a place an empty parking garage is. Even more so in the snow. That first garage image, looking down on the area between the two structures, had my mind going to a shot from a catwalk of tiered cellblocks in a prison.

The other thing that struck me was just how eerie the similarities are between your apot and the corporate campus where I work (for the "magenta" mobile phone "un"carrier). Similar mantras emblazoned on walls, similar furniture, similar art and splashes of color amid the otherwise drab environs (some of this is imagined — or projected — due to the fact your set is primarily B&W), etc. I suppose that's to be expected as there's only so much that can be done to differentiate an environment that has the same function, the same basic architectural footprint, and with furniture provided with a small number of manufacturers.

My favorite bit of whimsy in these shots is the old-school wall phone adhered to a cubical partition. My biggest question is why someone would name their (piñata) donkey "That".

Hah! My office had the same carpet squares as yours until they remodeled just this past year. Before the remodel, it was practically a time capsule from 2001. Some bulletin boards still had posters from 2001 behind the glass and everything, and there was a cdrom on top of a dusty cabinet that had never moved in all my years of working there.

Oh, and I love the Viggo picture. Likely a Gen-Xer working at that desk?
Not sure who sits there. Amusingly though, it’s not all that far from the CEOs office, and she probably walks by it often.

Annoyingly however, I believe it’s actually spelled Vigo with one G. I should’ve crossed it out when I was up there peaking into the CEOs office 😂

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Wasn’t he also known as Vigo the Butch? 😂

I meant to ask: what's up with the rack of sportcoats? Are those decor or are they someone's actual wardrobe?

I haven’t a clue. It was in a building and on a floor I’ve never been too. All kinds of branded stuff up there that I’ve never heard of before. Couldn’t tell you why there was clothing up there, but much of it had the same branding as the signs and other paraphernalia floating around.

From the context, I think we can postulate that the Vigo-lover is female ("How Women Rise"), probably BIPOC (42 and Black Panther), enjoys fantasy (GBII & GoT posters), and a people manager (leadership and management titles). She is probably at the director-level (still a cubical, but proximate to the CEO) of Best Buy Mobile whose first name might be "Shauna" (by what I can make out from the box of business cards). I agree with DnJ that she's likely to be GenX.

Wow, this post got a little stalker-ish. ;)

If it is someone's wardrobe, that would have to be an interesting person who could pull off the upscale Canadian tuxedo look, the shiny blazer AND the Herb Tarlek plaid look.
