DAY FIVE - Silver September 2013

High, dry and on the move

I thought I had it cracked, a tanker entering Plymouth late this afternoon with a weather front moving in above giving some interesting cloud, but shot against the light it just hasn't worked despite my struggles, so something much more conventional. Better luck tomorrow, although it might be a case of dodging the rain.

The guy in shot is "driving" the boat lift with what is presumably something very akin to a model radio control box. It was quite a tight fit in places.

September Day 5. Mullein. I took this a few days ago for this challenge but at first thought it was too flat with the leaf in front too overexposed. It came back to it today. I edited this like never before, adjusting the plant and finding some detail in the overexposed leaf in front, then the right and left sides separately (the first time I've ever actually loaded a saved selection!), and then converted it to B&W in Topaz Restyle Taupe Grey and Black, luminosity sliders adjusted to bring out texture in the highlighted leaf.

trying new things is what it's all about. Good work, Susan.

Luke, I can't believe how much fun this is! I've always wanted to want to do B&W, but it's never clicked before. When I saw this was the September challenge, I first said to myself, "Better luck next month." But it seems to finally be coming together!
