That was the easy part. Now I need to remove the excess up to the line. Hard as it is, I think I'm going to use hand tools only, to keep from accidentally going over the line. I want the Black Walnut insert to fit perfectly.

Sorry again, but I need two pics for today's story. Barbed wire fences are common in the rural area in which I live. The trees grow into them and start to grow around them like this:

I noticed this tree about thirty feet way. It's back farther toward the creek. The odd growth on the tree matches the spacing of the fence, which probably means there was another fence at some point that was removed and replaced with one closer to the road.

Looking into the main window of the former headquarters of the Southern Oregon Historical Society. The Society is moving to a smaller location but their window decorations are still up---and still, to my eyes at least, very compelling.
