A process that luthiers call "flossing" is used to tweak the fit of the neck to the guitar body. It is a slow process, but done correctly, it ensures a near perfect fit.

Driving through the Cascade mountains this morning, near Klamath Falls, just after sunrise...when I saw this, I had to pull over, stop, and get out of the car, in sub-freezing temperatures, to take a photo.
