Daily Challenge Day to Day 267

Following on from yesterday's theme, on this date, the (in)famous "Long Telegram" was sent; it was most influential on the direction the U.S. policy was to take during the Cold War.

M.
It was this background that my generation grew up with, including being always aware of the threat of a nuclear conflict.
For me it is still a wonder that I could pass 70 years of my life without any war or social disruptions. Maybe thanks to cold war.

When one lives a bit outside of town, on a semi-rural property, there is almost always a 'burn pile' - of the dried branches, flotsam & jetsam that gets burned once or twice a year, and the subsequent ashes are often recycled in parts of the garden. But ever since the savage wildfires which burned parts of the local town, there have been less burn pile fires than normal. Including this one which sits waiting a propitious day for a controlled conflagaration.
