The final step in preparing the Black Walnut parts for finishing is sanding away any residue from the finishing resin after the excess has been scraped away. The idea is to remove all of the resin except what has filled the wood grain of the Walnut. This involves a power sander and going outside where the sanding dust can fall away harmlessly. The epoxy resin is stubborn and tenacious, and it would take days with a sanding block to do this job by hand - and I guarantee you my arm would hurt for weeks afterward.
