Well the long awaited Sony A1 update dropped after some issues, and as per usual it seemed to be of little use to me and possibly many others. thoughts please did you bother? will the A1 ever get a decent update?

I didn't do either of them, the one that messed up the camera or the one that supposedly fixed it. Didn't upgrade my A7 IV either, and haven't for the last three updates. Biggest disappointment in Sony is their firmware. I'll never do one out of the gate again, I'll wait for others first to make sure they're right.

I haven't done them either. I'm at 1.32 and won't go further intentionally.

Except I found out a few weeks ago there is a neat hidden update or two they didn't tell us about. One is that you can put 5:4 (8 x 10) brackets in the viewfinder so you can compose with 8 x 10 in mind. That is important to me as this year I've been selling a dozen or so 8 x 10s each month during racing season. Nothing worse than cropping a 3:2 to 5:4, only to find out there's not enough space. I have to shoot a wider FOV to make sure there's room to crop of the ends.

Because the one update completely wipes your settings and you have to start over, I may give it a shot once the season is over.

I had to buy some 8 x 10 paper and saw a 100 pack of 8-1/2 x 11 on clearance for $20 so I picked it up. It's only slightly wider than 8 x 10 (1.29 compared to 1.25) but may prove helpful in some cases. I did some poking around and found that 8.5 x 11 frames are pretty common as award or certificate frames, a lot easier to find than an 8 x 12 frame.

I don't know if you can go backwards with any camera. What's going on?
Hi Tim , not sure really , for sure things are no better than original version for me personally. I have the shoulder and wrist issue and have gone full circle on testing and again and decided ibis is garbage once again, you can see the sensor movements as you press the shutter release in the evf, so oss if anything again it just seems better. You know I like to whine ;)

You should be able to see IS working in the viewfinder, it should go from shaky to steady. Is that what you mean?
