This is Digital Darkroom Derby #102, a digital image editing/processing challenge. Rules are here, please read them.

This is another rural photo taken a few weeks ago at Jamberoo NSW. There were ominous clouds all around resulting in rather dull light. So let's see what you can do with this one.

Photos are here. The K-70 allows shooting in budget friendly DNG mode so there is a JPG and a DNG in this folder. DDD102

Entry #1:

Imported into Capture One Pro 23. Some perspective correction. Wound back the Exposure. Added a bit of temperature to the White Balance to warm up the colours. Did a lot of Highlight recovery to make the clouds stand out better. Some Shadow recovery to bring out some details of the interior of the barn. Finally some Clarity editing using the "Punch" method.

DxO PL 6, increased intensity of Clear view plus slider, then into Nik Colour Efex to warm it. Fixed geometry and cropped.

All exposure work done in Adobe Camera Raw, practicing with the new masking facilities. In Photoshop, a bit of tidying and a trip through Topaz Sharpen for the structures. After downsizing for display, a trip through Topaz Denoise for minor global tightening up.

Nice scene
Edit in DT4.2 using sigmoid module.
General bag off tricks: lens correction, straighten, open shadows, compress highlights, increase local contrast in clouds, add saturation in shadows, remove in hightlights....

#1 This shot needs the bright sunny day treatment. Luminar AI was tyhe main processor but then I tried numertous filters but I have forgotten thm final choice. I also altered the canvas size in PS..

Set Black and white points. Straighten and crop. Dehaze and then Darken 10% in selected areas. Vignette, selective darkening on clouds.
