Entry #1 (and probably only):

Well caught @RobD . (y)

With an ISO of 12800, noise reduction was always going to be required. So first a quick run through DxO PureRAW 3 for noise reduction and lens correction, before importing the resulting DNG file into Capture One Pro 23.

Cropped to a 16:9 aspect ratio to get rid of the bar / fence at the bottom and the dead space on the right. Then fiddled around a bit with Contrast, Highlight recovery, Shadow recovery and added in a bit of Brightness.

Edit: I am out of the challenge. See below.

Did anyone else notice the fly hitching a ride on the kookaburra's back? (Or is it a mozzie?)

I separated the bird and the background, then rebuilt the background to fill in the bird-shaped hole. Then I added both depth-of-field blur and motion blur to the background. I composited the bird back into the image in a new location. Finally, I cropped the image to XPAN aspect ratio (65:24), because, why not? Oh, yeah. . . there was a vignette and shadow somewhere in there, too.

EDIT: Sorry, @RobD . We are getting together with family for 10 days, starting tomorrow, Wednesday afternoon. I found out today that fairly extensive touring plans have been made for most of that time, which will preclude my participation in the challenges during this period. So I am pulling this entry from the challenge and I will join in again the week after next.

Lyle, have a nice time with Family. Your entry gave me some tips to improve my version of this shot!

Here are the results, not many entries.
Rashid #2 - The winner
Larry #2 - Runner up
Ken #1 - 2nd Runner up

Take it away Rashid.
Thank you, Rob. A fantastic shot: I've tried many times to get a photo of a bird in flight and the best I could get was the rear half of the bird within the frame (I also tried a Dot Sight device which only made it more difficult for me :) I didn't expect this, so I've not tried to have a photo ready for the Challenge. I'll try to post something later today or tomorrow. Thanks again.
