This is Digital Darkroom Derby #150, a digital image editing/processing challenge.

These challenges are open to everyone. If you have any interest in practicing or improving your image editing and post-processing skills, please feel free to join in!

Please read the rules here. Short version: Host provides the challenge image and selects the winner, who then becomes the next host.

This is an image I took a few years ago with an original Fuji X100. It has a few issues but I think has the kernel of a nice photo. Good luck!

Raw and Jpeg files both here

Entry #1:

Interesting image. - Very dark and the trick was to brighten it up a bit, but not too much, as that would make the image seem a bit unreal for what was probably a dark and dingy day.

First fed the RAF file through DxO PureRAW 3, primarily for lens correction and sharpening purposes, before importing the resulting DNG file into Capture One Pro 23 for further processing.......

Performed Keystone correction and Cropped out part of the sky and foreground which weren't contributing to the image. Warmed up the White Balance slightly, increased the Saturation, added some Contrast, and then played around with Highlight recovery and Shadow recovery.

Entry #2:

In keeping with my desire to learn a bit more about Affinity Photo, I first fed the RAF file through DxO PureRAW 3 before importing the resulting DNG file into Affinity Photo 2 for further processing. Performed keystone correction by adjusting Rotation and Verticals. Increased Exposure and then played around with Highlights and Shadows. Used Auto White Balance and then increased Vibrance. Finally cropped to much the same dimensions as for Entry #1.

I must say that it is a lot more laborious than in Capture One, but I am getting to modify my workflow to speed things up. Still much to learn......
