This is Digital Darkroom Derby #216, a digital image editing/processing challenge.

These challenges are open to everyone. If you have any interest in practicing or improving your image editing and post-processing skills, please feel free to join in!

Please read the rules here. Short version: Host provides the challenge image and selects the winner, who then becomes the next host.

While spending some time in the Dolomites region of Italy, we visited the Latemar.Art, an open air art exhibition at 2000-2200 meters altitude. This is one of the pieces.

Entry #1:

I didn't know what to do with this image. For starters I didn't do anything near as brave as Lyle and Just did some basic editing and HDR recovery work.

I'll now go away and think about what I can do for Entry #2.

Not competing. I've seen some weird "art" in my time, but this beats them all. Camera Raw > Photoshop > Gordon's Gin.

Well, this exercise turned out more difficult than I thought….
Winner: @Irene McC first entry
First runner -up: @WhidbeyLVR first entry
Second runner-up: @gecko second entry
IMHO this picture begged for over the top processing, it was too dull with conservative processing.
Cannot show You my version (working on a tablet in the kitchen, keeping an eye on the pup); I developed it in ACR with maximal texture and clarity, thenover to nik HDR Efex and Nik Color/ProCapture.

@Peano Very nice result!

Don’t know at the moment if I will find the time to participate the next weeks: yesterday we introduced a 9-week pup in our house, yet again a Gordon Setter. That means staying beside her as much as possible and not going to the computer.

Good day to you all - I am about to head out for the entire day to a BIG deal cat show : Cat of the Year (aka COTY)
which is happening today and thereafter will have a load of editing to do.

I will get onto posting the new DDD as soon as I have a chance to think about an image to use for the challenge

Back home and downloaded the pictures... the lighting was abysmal, the hall was claustrophobically crowded and it was impossible to move into a position from which to get nice angles. Frustrating and sad
