This is Digital Darkroom Derby #45, a digital image editing/processing challenge.

Please read the rules here. Short version: Host provides the challenge image and selects the winner, who then becomes the next host.

Fresh from my camera this afternoon: our local gravelly beach, with driftwood and the hazy Cascade Mountains in the distance.

The RAW and JPG files are here.

The challenge will end at the end of the day on Friday, June 10th. I will post the results on Saturday.

New guy so first attempt at one of these. Crop to emphasize the horizon. Haze reduction and subsequent blue saturation reduction to bring the sky back into line. Lifted the shadows a bit.

Entry #1. A 16:9 crop with some cloning out of distractions. One of my presets and then some local masking for clarity in the foreground, de-haze in the mids, and a bit more colour in the sky.

Entry #2. Again, a 16:9 crop, clone out some distractions and one of my "washed-out" presets. Then wap the clarity slider to the right and the vibrance slider to the left - I like the effect this gives. A vignette to try and give an oldy-worldy vibe.

Not entering this one - just for fun.
Letterbox crop, levels, contrast, WB & Clarity in Camera Raw. Mono conversion then tone. Add texture and blend and add vignette

Almost entirely processed with Luminar AI. Final tweaks in Photoshop just becuase I am more familiar with it.

Edited raw file in DxO PL5 (mainly NR), exported as 16-bit TIFF file that I then tweaked in Elements (as a 16-bit image). I ended up with what appears to me to be only marginally different from the original image (other than a slight crop).

Going for a sunshine feel. Edited raw file in ACR, then used Photoshop PS6. Obviously changed the sky/clouds and warmed up the foreground.

I'm not a photographer, so this isn't for competition (since I have no photos to offer), just practice.
