This is Digital Darkroom Derby #73, a digital image editing/processing challenge.

Entry #1. I thought I'd go for a hefty B&W... all done with the tone curve in LR with a border in PS...

Entry #2. A bit of a crop, and then PS to remove the light splodges and add a slight red colour to the sacking. Back to LR for colour grading, vignette and a border.

Interesting Challenge. I edited the raw file in DxO PL5 (basic stuff: light levels, noise reduction, etc.) I then edited the resulting tiff file in Elements. I thought that this image invited experimentation, so I basically duplicated the main layer then used the Emboss filter (which emphasized the textures), reduced the layer's opacity to 50%, then tried various Blend modes, and settled on "Hard Light".

So I was at it again and so this is my entry # 3, replacing entry #2 (The B&W).

I didn't really know what to do with this image. So I imported it in to Capture One Pro, cropped it slightly, did as much highlight recovery as I could, increased the contrast and sharpness.

This was the result.

thank you to everyone that participated! Sorry for running a day late but I'll make up for it by a quick decision! Unfortunately for me, they’re all very good as well. I was looking for creative renditions, and there were quiet a few, and I favoured the B/w versions.

So without further ado:
