Fuji Does X100 need a half-case?

I don't have an X100 right now but while considering it I notice a lot of people seem to put it in a leather half-case. Is that because it improves handling by making it a bit thicker or just for looks?
When handling it in a store, it seemed to me that it was pretty chunky already and didn't really need help with a grip.
Thanks.

Just to let you know, the "official" x100 leather case can be turned into a half-case by unsnapping the cover :)

Whether or not it needs one is a personal decsion :)

I very much like the official leather half case for the X100. It makes the camera even easier to grip, and feels great. I'm not so much concerned with the looks as how it feels and handles. The coolness of how it looks is a bonus!

Personally, I always carry my X100 in it's half case when out shooting, it provides both added protection in case of knocks as well as offering a better grip, the case is easy to use both in full or half formats!
