Dogs Dogs (part II)

In Emeryville, California.
This particular dog is the beloved mascot of a large warehouse (which stocks & sells LED lighting) - and the employees have nicknamed him 'Ruckus'

Playing with the hotspots of sunlight coming through the foliage, to see what kind of compositiona I can get.

This one is a bit more how I hoped, with bright subject against a dark background.

My superheroe pose. It was a nightmare and pure luck that I got her to sir still for a nanosecond to get her to shine under direct sunshine.

I loved the look of those roots making stairs to climb and the luck that the sunshine was coming through the foliage on them, it took a few tries to get the a in focus image and with good light position.

But I think I broke my dog and I don't know what's her major malfunction :p

Another, different, location with large "stairry" roots, I wish I had gone lower angle to emphasize the roots more but she is about as helpful as tits on a fish when it comes to posing or sitting still.

I was sitting on the side of a large-ish pond looking at the ducks and having a break from walking with Sparkles sitting on my lap just because. And I looked to my left side and noticed beautiful bright sunshine breaking through the clouds and illuminating a path between the ponds:.

What made the image stand out to me was the dark foliage behing would emphasis anyone walking down that lane. A very colourful dressed women caught my attention to the composition that gave me the idea but I didn't get the shot before I noticed it. I used the 150mm end of my superzoom because I wanted to include the tree branch above to give the composition a creative edge. I wish I had my Tamron 70-180mm f 2.8 with me because I would have liked a bit more separation from the background with a f 2.8 instead of f 5.
This fluffer showed up on his own with a ball in his mouth, just looking around.

As with my usual luck I waited for half an hour and nobody passed by. I was hoping someone with a very bright and colourful clothes would pass by to get the most striking contrast but towards the end this girl was the only person to pass by so I took the shot hoping it will work as well. Nobody else came by and I lost the light when clouds started rolling in.
I really want to try this spot again but it has to come down to luck for the light to hit well on a certain time of the day with the right kind of subject.

Broke the dog after the walkie we had yesterday, She's been napping on my side while editing the pictures for most of the evening.

It's rare for her to sleep with her "wheels" up but when she is very tired she will sleep in any position she gets in or I put her in. I went with Black and White for a more moody feel to the images with some added film grain for the feel of the image then a low light look.

Awesome series Ovi!
Went out for a walkie yesterday:

Happy as a piglet in s£&t. Unfortunately the camera/lens miss the focus my a fraction of millimetre behind her eyes but I tried my best to get some sharpness and clarity to overcome it. On small size/large view it looks ok but it wouldn't hold up on a large print, but since it's for my home I don't mind it and I just want it for her expression, her happy ears and her front paws being in the perfect position.
I uncorrected the vignetting and added a bit more to give it a even stronger attention to her.

I love the half tunnel aspect of this area, especially in full summer with the green surrounding and more so in the autumn with orange and red and yellow from top to bottom. Easily my top 3 locations I know for portrait photography, the left side is open to a water canal and the light can come in (though the sun's path is always on the right side) and there are larger gaps that allow for spotlight that can make the subject stand out against the darker background. The swirly nature of Sony FE 85mm f 1.8 works amazing in this spot. If I had a subject that sit still for half a second I would love to do a bokehrama here.

Nothing comes as close to happy as open space to run her little heart out. Sometimes I think I have a pretend stallion and not a 4.7 KGs of adorable girl power.
I do wish I had lowered more (I was about her eye level) to put the gap in the trees behind her as her background, I will try that sometime.

Still practicing for pet portrait photography. I do end up with a lot of pictures of her but it gives me ideas for composition, practice bursting and reacting and getting used to my setup.

Playing in the forest. This is the one area I am struggling at the moment. With low light the AF-C is having difficulty keeping up and sometimes I don't get the composition just right because she walks more to the edge then in the middle, or instead of jumping over a root I expected and wanted her to she avoids it by going around.

I don't know I never tried this before, getting a shot of her from behind. I do need to work on compositions and light q bit more to make it a bit more interesting but I like this one quite a bit.

I took Jo the foster on a “flight to nowhere” this morning. She did great on the tram, going through security, and boarding the partial fuselage they have hiding behind closed doors between gates C15 and C16 at MSP airport! She’s earned her wings today!
