What a day. I had some time today and it was beautiful outside, and there has been a pretty little black squirrel out there this summer that I wanted to get some photos of. I got a lot more than I expected! All of these were taken within 40' of my back door.
First surprise was a Bald Eagle. Not terribly common around here, although more so lately, but the first one I've ever seen over town. Unfortunately I was set up for a squirrel, and he was high, but I managed one that isn't awful. 1/200 on 600mm, ouch.

After the eagle I sat a bit longer and got bored, so I went over to the pollinator garden we planted this spring hoping for a bee or maybe some flowers, although it's getting late in the season and most of them are done for.

Walked around the other side to try and get one that caught my eye, and out of nowhere a hummingbird is right in front of me. I hadn't seen them at the feeder this year, they must've been coming to the garden. First ever hummingbird shots for me, I was pretty excited! No idea what kind it is, nor the beautiful flower. That yellow/purple/red is fantastic. If anyone knows the bird or the flower please chime in.

Excitement over, go back and sit down again to chimp through the shots. I catch movement and there's the squirrel getting into my green beans. Black squirrels are actually a black variation of the grey squirrel.

Was pretty happy with my good fortune at this point and thought about calling it a day, but something made me decide to stay out. The turkey vultures have been kettling low this year, lower than normal.

I've spent afternoons in the woods and come away with far less!
