Usually with hard light, I try to soften the light in post. I tried the opposite with this one. The chess pieces were already quite contrasting. I converted a mostly monochrome scene to B&W and dialed up the contrast.
This is one of the chess tables at Washington Square Park in NYC. It was a very bright and sunny day. Some trees overhead created a light to shadow transition that further accentuates the board and pieces' existing contrast.
