I am continuously surprised that we have a large population of Little Grebes at my local pond and even more I am 100% sure that I have seen more then a few baby Little Grebes which surprised me because it's quite late in the year to have hatchlings.
Just discovered this very cool thread, and my thanks to Bill (@Bill in Texas) for starting it.
My contribution is a male mallard I glimpsed in a large stream here in southern Oregon.j

Northern shovelers, taking a break from their busy daily activities (which largely consist of 'shoveling' their large bills down underwater for food as they swim about)
