Software DxO PhotoLab 6

Firstly unzip the downloaded file and note where you've stored it.

To import a color profile into DxO
- go to Customize (top left)
- Color palette tab(right, three rings)
- Color Rendering section
- Category = DCP Profile
- Rendering = Import DCP profile
Navigate to where you stored the unzipped profiles, select one, Open / OK it and you're done.
You'll need to repeat this for each profile.

To actually use the profiles
- go to Customize
- Color palette tab(three rings)
- Color Rendering section
- Category = DCP Profile
- Rendering = choose a profile and it's applied immediately.

Hope this helps with your colour issues.

I have Color Fidelity profiles for each of my cameras. I had no idea you could use them with Photolab :)

Same here. Pity it's limited to 10 profiles though. Three of my cameras have five CF profiles and one has six. Decisions decisions.

So far I hadn't noticed issues with M1 Mk 2, although I haven't used that camera since buying the M5 Mk3. and the stand alone version of LR 6 whatever that I have accepts those RAW files, so never had need to test it yet. Maybe I'll take a look, and compare.

The other thing I am trying, is not adding extra contrast as I used to do in LR. With the clearview option I think it's not needed. Just my opinion on what I'm seeing so far.

Without much attention, DXO PhotoLab 7 has been released already almost two weeks ago, alongside new versions of the FilmPack, ViewPoint and Nik Collection software. As usual there is a free 30-day trial for those who want to try it out. PL7 mostly brings some further improvements to local, masked editing, like the HSL color wheel, an improved black and white workflow and it also sports support for LUT.

I'm still on PL5 and am still not sure if I'm going to upgrade to the latest version, as V5 pretty much offers everything I need. For those on the fence however, with Black Friday coming up in about a month, it's usually worth the wait for their special offers.

Thanks for the heads up!

IIRC, you can jump one version and still use the upgrade prize (for example version 5 to version 7), but if you don't do that upgrade it is buy again at full prize.

Will take a look and see if I need/want to upgrade.

I've noticed the new version as well, and am also still using v5. The only thing which makes me tempted to upgrade is that if your version gets old enough, DXO doesn't always give you the upgrade pricing discount for their newest versions. Same with Nik.

That's the most major reason why I might pull the trigger. However I'll wait for Black Friday and see what they'll have on offer.

@Ghostbuggy Thanks for posting. That release slipped out. No email to established users either, certainly not to me. Comparing 7 with 6, there's no compelling reason for me to upgrade. All the new features seem to be for specialised workflows that I don't use. Pity as I've been a DxO user for many years and used to look forward to trying out the latest version. Still, there's new features in LR Classic to play with.

I agree, even I wouldn't have noticed the new version myself, if I hadn't remembered DXO changed their release schedule from late to early October. I even checked my spam folder but nothing, no e-mail notification at all. Quite odd indeed. If it wouldn't be for the risk of losing the upgrade ability, I'd also skip PL 7 entirely. While I'd get the new improved noise reduction introduced with version 6, it's nothing I really need. I've trialed it last year with some of my Micro Four Thirds files and while there was an improvement in some of them, it was never as dramatic - but maybe I used the wrong examples.

I honestly cannot see anything to justify the general user buying the update. Certainly not me now that the M1 blue cast bug has been sorted in v6 although I've switched to LR's Denoise for most things.

There's no, new big 'wow' feature in v7. I don't think I'm missing anything here. Given the new features appearing in LR & PS, I wonder how long DxO can continue.
