There was a very large tree in Oakwood Cemetery that had an enormous trunk with bark that reminded us of an elephant's leg.

We walked at Oakwood for the first time in a long while and found this:

Perhaps someone can identify the tree from the bark??

Love the hawk. I try to photograph them every chance I get. Pity about the tree, it looks like an American Beech, Fagus grandifolia. The elephant skin description and the pinkish tone of the fresh cut wood definitely fit.
