Canon Showcase EOS 5D Mark IV

I seem to remember this being a 1942 LaSalle, an offshoot brand of Cadillac in the postwar years.
LaSalle didn't last long, but was an influential brand at the time, and very important to Cadillac
at the time as a less-costly version of their own luxury cars.

CORRECTION: The placard seems to indicate a 1935 LaSalle

Captured with a 5D Mark IV.

Boy, the way Glenn Miller played
songs that made the hit parade
Guys like me we had it made
Those were the days
Didn't need no welfare state
ev'rybody pulled his weight
gee our old LaSalle ran great
Those were the days

I appreciate the clarification, although it begs another question for me.

What are the policies regarding cross-posting? To me, these "show case" threads should be about image examples of the equipment in question, and perhaps discussion regarding said piece of equipment. The more activity the better! On the other hand, most are going to want to post images in the "themed" threads vs. an equipment showcase that has a more specific audience. Is there any issue with posting images here that may also exist in the themed threads? I think the same could be said for the challenge threads.

Yeah, that was a racist, sexist, mysoginistic show even during its time,
even though I remember Jean Stapleton/Edith Bunker screaming out
"Those were the daaaaaays!."
I hated that show, and I hated Archie Bunker, even as a child.
Archie was my own father, personified on the TV airwaves.
Bigoted, self-serving, prejudiced, and a mysogonist of colossal proportions,
Archie Bunker was a reflection of my own father.

Thanks for that bit, @ShipleyNW .

Much the same here...

Yes, agreed.

While a question was asked about maintaining use of PS CS6, it was asked and answered
in context of using that version of software with this more-modern camera.
It seems to me that this is indeed pertinent to the overall experience of using the 5D4,
which should be encouraged and promoted.

It still surprises me that there are so few contributions to this thread,
as it's considered one of the most-accomplished of Canon's offerings
between the 1D-series and the R-series.

I don't think there is a tremendous amount of Canon here....although that is probably changing. I think the image example threads for bodies and lenses are tremendously successful. It's a good place to show, research, troubleshoot, and discuss.

I'd like to feel that I've contributed fairly well so far, but it'd seem I'll do well
if I get out more with further examples to contribute.

Even so, the 5D4 is likely where I top off, so I'd encourage discussion.
I've a 28-135 USM II lens for situations unknown, while the rest of the
manual lenses fill in. Tamron's SP 28-80 AD-2 is likely my favorite
all-round lens, while a Soligor 400/f4.3 and Tamron SP 60-300 AD-2
are ridiculously-inexpensive lenses, and a Soligor 500mm CAT lens
with a complete set of drop-in filters has proven fairly good.

While it's good to recognize all cameras out there, admitting they're also good,
there's much to be said of Canon's 5D Mk IV and its capabilities.

I'd like to see more discussion of the camera, capabilities, lenses, and processing
included within this thread. Such are my reasons for posting.

The 5Div was the first pro DSLR I owned. I'd used mainly crop bodies before that. I didn't buy mine until the R5 came out and prices on used DSLRs dropped considerably.

The best way I can describe my 5Div is that using it feels like I'm using a box full of confidence. It holds up its end every time and bails me out a lot. If I made a bad picture with that camera, it's because I couldn't make a good picture that day. Drives me to hold up my end.

I bought an R5 recently. Works the same in that sense. So far.

Just found this thread so my tuppence...

The 5D Mk IV is a work horse and completely fits with what I shoot. It's AF is good, has enough FPS, great resolution & ISO performance. As to the other gripes usually levelled at it, I don't shoot video and as to the lack of an articulated screen, I've never had the occasion to curse the lack of.

Anyway, a sample to be going on with.
