One thing I really love about the E-P1 is the warm color rendering but it doesn't seem a big enough step forward to offset the $$ to purchase a 3. Didn't Ray sell his NEX 5 and now has the new Olympus? (among other cams)
Actually, I sold the GH2 and the Nex 5 (with lenses) and a Voigtlander 50 f1.5 to fund an EPL3 and the 45 f1.8. And then I saw some demos of the EP3 and its touch screen and decided it might be worth checking out. And since those various sales brought in enough for both, I figured I'd try the EP3 and then, depending on how that went, maybe also check out the EPL3 when it becomes available and keep the one I like the most. And I'm on schedule with that. So far, as much as I like the touchscreen on the EP3, I'm not using it a lot. But I've also been shooting a lot with longer lenses so far (because they're so challenging for AF and I want to see how it does - very well thank you!). I figure that by the time the EPL3 hits the stores, I'll have a really good feel for how I'm using the EP3 and if I'm still not using the touchscreen much, and if the EPL3 screen is decent quality, I'll likely sell the EP3 and get the EPL3. Or not if I'm using the touchscreen more.
And Pictor, thanks so much for the very kind words, but whatever merits I may or may not have as a photographer, I'm also a serious gear-head - I like the STUFF too. As such, I tend to gush over
ALL of my cameras when they're new (with the exception of the GH2 which I immediately knew was just gonna be an appliance for me). And my enthusiasm doesn't really wane - but if something else comes along that will do the same job better or a new job I haven't thought of yet, I have no loyalty to my old gear and will sell it while it still has value (I did well on the Nex and VERY well on the GH2). I can pretty much guarantee that if Olympus comes out with a combined touch/tilt screen using the same light touch as the EP3, I'll sell what I need to in order to buy that too. And my photos all end up looking sort of like my photos whether I'm shooting with a Nex, m43, X100, or GRD3. So the fact that I like something should mean NOTHING to anyone else! Because I tend to like EVERYthing!
