Excire Cataloging Software Problem

I posted this on the other mu-43 forum as well.

I'm running into a problem with Excire software I just bought. When I try to install it, ZoneAlarm stops it because of an apparent virus Hoax.JS.ExtMsg.a that's included. Any suggestions regarding getting this working without risk? Can I close ZA, install Excire and then have ZA scan and quarantine Hoax?

Try MalwareBytes on the file, Graham.

Try downloading from a different site. IME, many of the 'generic' software download sites include poxware as a matter of course.

Personally, I use Adobe Bridge, FastStone Viewer and PIE Studio for managing my photos on my PC. Different programs on my Android tablets and phones.

Excire tech services got back to me and said some AV prevents the older versions from being loaded sometimes. They recommended I turn ZoneAlarm off and load it. They also offered me an upgrade to the newest version for $29, regular price $99. I took the upgrade. Works great but still in the early stages of getting to know it - work and my lovely spouse keep eating into playtime.
