Currently in Rome for a week with Mrs Petach and some friends. We have a lovely apartment, close to shops and bars/restaurants about 1k from the Cathedral of Rome (St John/StGiovanni)

Couldn’t decide which camera to take….but BA’s generous 21 kilo hand baggage allowance decided for me. They all came!

The 6d with 85mm L f/1.2 & 70-300L, The GXR with 21mm Zeiss and a Panny FZ200 Bridge.

The Panny has done really well, especially for street work and scenics. I am pleased with it and it is very versatile at 600mm equivalent zoom AND f/2.8 all the way through. In fact, I have enough confidence in it to make it the only one to take if room is tight.

Some Rome street candids (FZ200):

The 2014-13 image with the young man and woman is an amazingly good portrait.

Not too far from Philly
you should be able to figure it out...
Pete,

I'm not surprised at the high quality of the shooting - I'd be surprised at anything less when you hit the streets. But I'm a bit surprised at how well such a small sensor super zoom does for this type of shooting. But if anyone can pull it off. Does that camera shoot raw or are you just processing OOC jpegs?

Thanks Ray. Yep....shoots RAW too! I enjoyed using it so much that the Ricoh/Zeiss combo has been given a breather for a few days. Unthinkable.........! Like most of the Bridge breed (I think) anything above 800ISO looks horrible.......so that f/2.8 constant is really a great addition. The lens is marked as "Leica Elmarit" if that counts for anything.

I used it also for a lot of my other Rome shots at the Colosseum etc. Performed well during the day.......not so keen on the night lights work. Much preferred the quality of the 6d.

Cheers

Pete
