Hello,

I am back from a trip through the UK and I would like to show you some of my photos and give some hints about good places for photos. Our predefined route was: Edinburgh, Isle of Skye, Loch Lomond, Lake District, Snowdonia NP, Pembrokeshire Coast NP.

Day 1/2: Edinburgh
I've been in EDI before, so we just walked around for recreation and tried to get some good photos on our way. We tried to explore some more natural spots and found Dean Gardens, which were pretty nice. You can enter them via Mackenzie Pl or Miller Row. Dont try to enter the other side of the creek, it's all private.

Day 3: Edinburg -> Isle of Skye
We drove from Edinburgh to the Isly of Skye. Nothing really spectacular on our way, just had a short break here...

Day 4: Isle of Skye
We explored the "Fairy Pools", which is a nice sport for photographers and that said, there were so many of them that you had people in the frame quite often...

On our way to the walk...

Day 5: Isle of Skye
We walked up all the way to the Old man of Storr and beyond... ;) There have been thousands of really good photos on the web showing the Old Man of Storr and our light was not the best, so just to be complete. ;)

In the evening we tried a short walk on a peninsula. We were not expecting much, but it was a really great (and easy) walk and there was a good place for our tent, too!

I was a bit 'ill' and relaxed a bit on those days, but in the evenings I needed some excercise, so there are some shots, too.

Day 8: Isle of Skye -> Glen Coe -> Loch Lomond
That was a long ride again, but we made several stops. Glen Coe was a good place to stop due to spectacular mountains.

Day 9: Loch Lomond -> Lake District
After arriving in the Lake District we made a "short and easy" walk. Yeah... that was totally wrong... it was a long and hard walk, but nevertheless, the landscape was quite nice, but not as spectacular as the next day. I can't remember the name/place, sorry, but the streets were very narrow and hard to drive, so you shoudl be a "good" driver anyway. :D

Day 10: Lake District
We decided to do the near by walk up the Seat Sandal. It's quite steep in the end, but I highly recommend to hike up till the end, you get spectacular views:

Day 11: Lake District -> Snowdonia NP
Another day in the car, but in the afternoon we reached Betws-y-Coed, a small town featuring the "Bridges Walk". Actually we got lost a little bit and went to far, but that was quite good as there were some really nice places! So, I highly recommend to "get lost" on the Bridges walk. :D:D

Day 12: Snowdonia NP
Our challenge for the day was to walk up to the Snowdon summit. We decided not to take the train, but to hike up the Rhyd Ddu Path, which was described to have the "most striking mountain scenery".

Day 13: Snowdonia NP
We slept at the Cadair Idris, but both of us already climbed it so we were just there for the night and took some photos in the morning.

Afterwards we drove to a place called Dolgoch Gorge or Dolgoch Falls. We haven't expected much, but we found some really beatuiful woodland scenery (felt like in Lord of the Rings ;) - but I had problems to capture this feeling with the camera :( ) and a waterfall and creek in a stunning surrounding. If you are nearby forget your plans and make a stop here!

Well, we spent the last days with relatives of the friend I was travelling with, so there are not so many photos of those days for the web, but anyway... :)

Goodbye Wales by Matt Everglade, on Flickr

Bye bye Wales, this is the end of my journey. :) Hope you enjoyed what you read and saw. Feedback, critique, questions, ... are more than welcome!

Sorry for this huge set of images, but this is already a subset of images. I uploaded some more pictures to my flickr page.

Kind regards,
Matt

So many wonderful shots in just 2 weeks... Well done! (y)
If I may offer one bit of criticism, or perhaps better described as surprise... Of all the things I could think of to put in the black image frame on the top and bottom, the exif data would be very near the bottom of my list. To me personally, it detracts from the magic of the images.

Hey guys,

thanks again for your feedback.

@bartjeej
You are right, but let me explain the reasons: I don't want my images without any "copyright" in the web so in the beginning I added those "beautiful" watermarks over my images. They were really disturbing so I started to add it to a border, but only the name on the border looked bad so I added the EXIF data, too, as stating them was a requirement on another forum. I am mostly looking at my images with a black background, like here and in this environment I think it is not that distracting. Here on this lighter background you are right, it is a bit distracting, but it's better than any watermark on the image itself and gives some additional information. ;)

@Luke
It's not really a slideshow, but you can watch them on flickr using the lightbox:
Over the roofs...

Cheers,
Matt

Incredible images, and not a dud among them. I'm jealous. Looks like there might be sensor dust on one of them, Snowdon II I think it was called? It was shot at f11 and it looks a whole lot like my XT-1's sensor dust blobs... I've been doing a lot of aperture priority shooting lately. :)
