Our little old town has been subject to some pretty sudden, and violent, flooding. Think the Colorado River rushing down Main Street, trapped between the buildings, to the height of the third floors.

An overgrown leylandii hedge on the left has been removed. The branches have been chipped, and the chippings have been spread along the path, which gets very muddy when it rains. The replacement fence is work in progress, at the moment!

What wood are those posts made of?

Actually I don't know, but they have been tanalised, and the bottoms dipped in hot pitch. Then set in fence post cement.

I love these old fences!
I think this one is made from Chestnut staves, which seem to last forever (and these could date from the late 1950's).

Some sort of pine, apparantly!
