Finding my way back into things (monochrome)

With virtually no photography under ny belt in the last few months I've been experimenting with the jpeg settings in camera, initially on my Leica D-Lux typ 109. These are some results from the monochrome photo style setting with some tweaks to contrast. They have had minimal processing in GIMP, a lifting of the shadows on the landscape images and adjustment of levels on the others together with sharpening.

Looks nice, especially the last four. I'm generally not that much of a fan of the way trees look from a distance in b&w, not sure why exactly, but the closer subjects in the latter photos I'm really liking.
