Canon First Day Out With the Canon Powershot Pro1

Location
Central Ohio, USA
Name
Andrew
Went to a small town just east of Columbus called Baltimore. This is in Ohio, not the more famous (or infamous - if you know, you know) one in Maryland.

The hype on the sensor and the lens are justified, I would say. Handling, even, was pretty good. Auto focus is rather weird....was not sure if I was in focus sometimes depending on how the camera aacted - and the EVF/LCD don't help when out in the field. The only thing I saw occasionally was some blooming in very bright spots in some scenes.

Shot everything in RAW. Shot to shot times were a little longer than a modern camera - but not too bad, honestly. It really was all about the auto focus - having frustrations with it. There were times when the thing would hunt and hunt - usually 3 times and then it would lock in. Other times, it was hitting right away.

Not sure if that is normal or if the age and maybe some failings in the camera itself may be playing a part.
RAW images processed in Lightroom for exposure and then run through Topaz Photo AI for sharpening and denoising.

I stumbled across this post of yours again, Andrew - and just wanted to say that I'm seriously impressed with the images you got with this tiny semi-ancient 8Mb camera. I remember, years ago, reading about how highly the lens was regarded, among Canonphiles - and looking at these photos you took with yours... I'm still impressed.
Are you still using yours?

I still have it, but have not used it in a while. Might be time to dust it off and give it another opportunity.
