So,
On Sunday afternoon my wife and I drove down to Newport News to pick up an order from Total Wine.
We thought we would cross the James River at US 17 to Smithfield and head around and then take the ferry back home.
Problem was the bridge was closed so we had to go south to the I-664 bridge whereupon crossing we missed getting off on 17 headed back north.
Some 30 minutes later we realized the error of our ways and had to backtrack about 30 miles. On our way back we came across the Wharf Hill Brewing Company in Smithfield.
We stopped in and had the best meal we have had for a while. All very reasonably priced.

Good job! I never said the photos had to be lunch or dinner things. Hey....if we stop on the road to treat ourselves with an ice cream or Italian Ice that would be eligible also .

It was my mom’s birthday today. She’s been wanting to go to “scratch made Southern” restaurant Tupelo Honey for brunch, for a while now. So “fried chicken and waffles” it was. Even though I scraped off the several-tablespoons dollop of butter, I’ll double my workout tomorrow.
