often only seeing placeholders and images don't come in *at all*

@Irene McC Are you using any kind of ad blocker in your browser? The main Cameraderie server is hosted in the US but the attachment images are served from Amazon S3 servers internationally based on your region. Off the top of my head, I'm wondering if you're running something that may be blocking the Amazon servers or if your region is having any Amazon S3 connectivity issues.

Ad blocker, yes (sorry!) For the rest I'll have to run that by my son who is more knowledgeable on that front

For now just try disabling the ad blocker for Cameraderie.org and see if that makes a difference. When I'm at my home laptop later tonight I will check our Amazon S3 logs to see if I can spot anything.

Normally I have a tab open throughout the day, active time depends a bit, but more now that I dont split my time between here and the Mu43 forum.

At the moment we don't have any ads displayed and basic EXIF is viewable by all members. Any donations (aka "subscriptions") go towards the Admin Coffee Fund.

Geez, Kevin, cancel my subscription immediately! Just kidding. I'm more than happy to support the site. Running my own sites, I appreciate that there is a cost involved.

I tend to log in several times a day, but for maybe five minutes a visit just to see new posts.

Pretty much this.

If I'm inside, when bored or when taking breaks from other tasks I'll pop in for a few minutes here and there, check the threads I'm following, make a post...

Just to clarify, I never log out ...

I log in once a day, after work, and stay logged in through the evening.
Same goes for weekends, only log in in the evening when the days business is over.
I then look through the new messages in the threads I follow and sometimes look for new interesting threads, takes an hour or so (because I still do the same for µ43 forum).
So during the evening I see new alerts and stuff like that and occasionally look at what has happened.
