Greetings!

On my canon lenses with IS (24-105, 70-200) I can ALWAYS feel the gyro operating, and sometimes I can hear the whir if I listen carefully (and my ears are not ringing horribly). However, I feel No tactile or auditory indication on the 18-55 2.8-4 when the switch on the lens is in "on" position.
Is this normal?

Thanks!

I can't hear or feel anything going on in the 18-55 with OIS on with my copy, I think that's normal. There's an indicator on the display if OIS is turned off, so if it wasn't engaged you'd probably be able to see that in the screen also.

Ahhh,
The little hand- manual, page 73...
Haven't worked my way that far yet, and apparently there are two modes which can be accessed through one of the shooting menus?
The hand (with a line through it) comes on when the IS switch is off.
Thanks!
(Not clear how to switch between IS modes 1/2)
