Fuji Fujifilm XT-50

The price is strange. That's more than I payed for my new X-T5 two months ago. Perhaps that's the price to pay for the high resolution sensor?

I hope it's just a false rumor. Fujirumor has floated wild speculation before.

Fuji Rumors usually gets the specs right, but the price is more hit or miss. My inner conspiracy theorist thinks that Fuji deliberately uses the rumors sites to float a high price point to see the reaction. It would make a nice second body for my X-T5. 🤓 I've also owned every X-Txx body (except the 30 ii) and I'd hate to break the streak . . .

The Euro price indeed seems to be odd, at least here in Germany the X-T5 is available for around EUR 1.730 at reputable camera shops, as of now you can even register for 100€ cashback and lower the price further - official MSRP is at EUR 1.999 though!
At 1.499 for an X-T50 the ~1.730 X-T5 most likely will seem like a better deal, but I guess we'll really have to wait for final street pricing.

This is moving in the direction that I wish m4/3 was moving.
The rumored price seems high.
Now, I wish that Fujifilm made a good travel zoom, similar to the Nikon 24-200mm, Olympus 12-100mm or 14-150mm, or Panasonic 14-140mm. My usual "kit" these days seems to be a superzoom + a prime lens around 40mm equiv.

Especially now that zoom lenses have started to actually render somewhat nicely.

FijiRimors is also predicting a Euro price of 1499, a 50% increase in price. If the US price is 50% higher, we’re looking at $1350 or so, about 350 below the XT5 and a bit more than the XS20.

if that's the price pattern, I'd rather have a used XT4 or XT5 at that point. The rumored film simulation dial is cool and all...but not sure that would be enough to get me to dive back into Fuji. I also think that a 40mp sensor in that class of camera would be a mistake. To be completely honest, unless I need 40+ mp in the Z8, I'm shooting it in medium at 24mp.

But what do I know...a lot of people want the biggest and baddest thing regardless if they actually need it or will take advantage of it.

I actually quite like the dedicated film simulation dial of the new camera, it sort of reminds me of the Olympus Pen-F, which featured something vaguely similar. People who enjoy using film simulations should enjoy this feature, especially since it might encourage to try out some film sims, which one might not use that often, for example I rarely shoot Velvia and Astia. Just like on the Pen-F, the dial is completely useless for RAW shooters: It can't be reprogrammed to any other functions.

What I don't get is the pricing: For Germany MSRP is stated at EUR 1499. As I mentioned earlier, the X-T5 is just less than EUR 250 more expensive, currently you can even get a 100€ cashback. If I would be in the market for a new camera, I am not sure if I would really consider the X-T50 over the bigger sibling, which offers weather resistence, a bigger and higher resolution EVF and a faster mechanical shutter.

I got the email from B&H this morning. I must say, it checks a lot of things off my wish list, especially for FUJI. Proper flip out screen, latest sensor, and IBIS! The kit lens also looks nice, and is an internal zoomer. Price is a bit high, but that's how everything goes at launch. I'm good where I'm at currently, but it's got a lot of appeal for me. $1800 USD for body and lens.

I have verbally put it in motion to trade in my X-S10 for this (when it finally arrives) - no price given at our local shop, where it is available for 'pre-order'.

I never gelled with the X-S10. What I love about my Fujis is the film camera look and feel, with the knobs and dials. I really miss having a dedicated EV+_ dial, which the X-T50 will have.
Although I've seen many online moans about the 'old generation' battery, I'm well pleased that it will use batteries that I already have as well as free-standing charger rather than plug in the camera.

Only problem I foresee is that I will need to translate the RAW files to .dng (which I don't like) or demosaic them in Silkypix before importing into Capture One, since I have an older perpetual license
which will not be upgraded to 'understand' the new camera's RAF format. Which also means that I can only use the Film Simulations in jpg but they won't be supported by my Capture One.
So all in all a bit of a chin-scratch, but I might also trade in my 18-55 and get the new lens that comes as a kit (not sure whether that combination will be offered locally though).

Currently a bit of a wait-and-see but I'm pretty sure I'll offload the X-S10 in any case.

"Hey look, it's available for preorder!" (Preorders.) :D

Thanks to rumors I had time to ponder, so this was no impulse buy. After going back and forth between different options trying to find the most analog digital experience I believe the X-T50 ticks more boxes than any other option. Not that I intend to stop shooting film, but one cannot do that all the time. :)

Rejoice! MSRP in Finland is 1549€ (higher VAT). :D

I considered X-T5 but decided to go with the X-T50, because
  1. X-T5 is bigger
  2. all my favourite Fuji lenses are of the old, non-weather resistant variety
  3. none of my old analog lenses I might adapt are weather resistant
  4. X-T50 is smaller (yes, this IS hugely important for me)
  5. X-T5 is not cheaper than the X-T50 :D
What I may yet miss
  1. X-T5 has that larger EVF

What's odd is that, as Omar called out, you can't save "recipes" for those film sims on that dial. Only the base film sims work. Hopefully Fuji updates this on future firmware, as that would increase the value of having the dedicated knob.

In the wilds of the internet, there are many complaints because of specific wants or expectations. It is considerably more expensive than its predecessor, like most other things these days. Still, it looks like a really nice little camera to use with IBIS and a hi rez sensor. I suspect that those who get it will be really pleased. I know I really like the results I get from the X-T5 and might eventually sell my xt3 and get the X-T50 as a second body. First I have to pay off the TC 1.4 I just bought. 🤪

From what I can see of product photos, there are 3 spots on the sim dial that would appear to be customizable, unless I'm not understanding what they are. FS1-FS3 should be customizable, right?

Just keep in mind that you're not going to make better photos with an X-T50 or X-T5 or whatever in comparison with the older Fuji's, like the X-T1 unless you think you are interested in 'eye detect', lots of MP's, a gazillion photos per second, and other bells and whistles. I was interested in the Fuji X100VI until I realized it would never be available. Cheers, OtL
