Fuji Showcase Fujinon XF 35mm f/1.4 R

The paper got the 35 1.4, the terrible 18, and the 60 f2.4 along with an X-Pro1 when they were first released. Decent gear, but not for guys to whom a proper camera says iPhone on it. So they abused the camera and lenses. I rescued the 35 and cleaned it up -- the focusing ring is a mess and the paint is missing from most all external edges, but I think I cleaned it up pretty well. Yesterday I stuck it on the infrared body and made a picture which it turns out I sort of like.

(The flower pot, by the way, is dark green in real life. As are the leaves of the plant.)

I'll play with the lens some more, though I have to confess that I don't much like normal lenses. A 24 on full-frame is what I like to think of as a normal lens.

Columbus Pride Parade and Festival 2019

The more I shoot with this lens the more I remember back in the XE1 days why I loved it so much. Yes, it is a little slow to focus sometimes, but the rendering is so much to my liking. Shot these with the XPro-2 in AF-C mode single point. CL 3 fps...this setup did admirably. I think I only missed one series of shots, but I'm sure it was my fault! LOL

No fancy film simulations here, just normal Fuji colors with a small tweak of exposure when needed in post. SOOC JPGs.

Excellent set of shots, including the set in the 90mm thread.

I've found the 35 1.4 with the current firmware in the T2 and Pro2 focuses pretty quickly and accurately. And agreed that the rendering more than makes up for any AF shortcomings. I have been shooting the majority of my portrait work with the 35 these days.

I feel the 35 shines in AF when using zone modes as well. Less hunting to non existent in my experience.
