Infrared Gear Fun with Infrared

I have been toying with the idea of having my X-E1 converted to infrared, but thought I'd try out a filter before committing both the body and the funds to the conversion. Last week, I got an 850nm filter from Kolari Vision and took it out this past weekend to see what I might accomplish with it.

Here are some of (what I thought were) the better images. Your thoughts are welcome, as are your samples.

Beautiful. I love infrared and have only done IR with film, but I am considering getting a used X-E1 or E2 for conversion. I wonder if you could tell us the exposure times? I would think with the filter approach you would need a long exposure (and tripod). I love the deeper 800+ mm filter effects. Are these RAW files? Love to hear more about what post processing you are doing, since I am about to venture into digital IR. Thanks for posting!

Thank you both!

Exposures are mostly in the 15 - 25 second range. I always shoot in RAW and process with ACR to convert to B&W and then finish in PS6, in which I adjust levels to bring the whites up.

I think I've been getting a bit better at this over the last year since the above photos were posted. Here's a link to my IR Album on Flickr ... Infrared

Here are a few of my newer images ...

Great shots, I have wanted an ir converted camera for some time now , I finally broke down and picked up a 720nm conversion which will offer me the ability to shoot some false colour ir as well. Sadly it's arrived along with winter so ir opportunity is limited for now .

Very Nice Ron I'm just switching to Fuji X system but have a IR converted Nikon Coolpix and D70I.R. Body.
I just might dig out my old I.R. Filters when weather picks up here in the U.K. Please feel free to post your work in my Infra Red groups on Flickr :)
