My first TT Artisan lens. I must say, this thing is one solid hunk of glass and metal. It's fully manual too, as the camera doesn't even pick up anything in the EXIF. I'll have to remember to do the manual lens setting or add it in post. Aperture will always be a guess though.

Go to the Lens Info setting in the camera menu, you can add the name, focal length and max aperture. Then when you use the lens, just go in and select it and it will automatically adjust the IBIS for the focal length and will right the name of the lens to the EXIF data. I am assuming this is your only lens without electric contacts so when you mount this lens after using a lens that does have contacts, it will sense a manual lens and use the last used info setting.

They do a shoebox style box with the lens sitting in a foam cutout.

I only noticed it in passing BUT I think the OM-1 has a manaul lens profile you can activate for manual lenses, you can add the name of the lens withing the EXiF data of RAW and JPEG files. (Logically the profile deactivates when you change the lens with "normal" Micro Four Thirds lenses). I can't confirm as I don't have a lens I can try on OM-1 but look into the menu.

Damn, I was to late, sorry for the double post, I didn't notice Bruce's reply.

Yeah, I knew that was a possibility on the EM1.3, and I got it added there. Now I just need to try some astro with it. Got some cold clear nights forecasted so I’m looking forward to it.

The internal ND1000 is tiny. Maybe a little larger than a quarter and 2x as thick.

Congrats. Is it hairy inside, or am I the only lucky guy with two hairy TTartisans?

The 50mm Macro + 2 x cheap AI-Z adapters. I've got an FTZ but only a couple of G compatible lenses - definitely have more AI glass.
Lens seems nice - feels solid/weighty. Surprised it didn't get the magic 'S' branding. Focus seems snappy but I forget how close you need to get with a 50 for real close-ups having been spoiled with the reach of the Oly 60, Pentax 100 and more recently Tamron 90.

The last of the *Squad" have arrived (for now). Both came in excellent condition and needed very little cleaning. The 100-400mm is a recent batch because the lens hood has OM System on it instead of Olympus. The Teleconverter has the original Olympus branding on it.

Did a check on all the stuff and a few needed firmware updates. The OM-1 needed update from 1.1 to 1.5, the 12-40mm PRO needed update from 1.2 to 1.3 and the 100-400mm needed update from 1.0 to 1.1

The update process was a bid finicky. Initially the camera did not want to stay in Storage mode when connected to USB, I was using the original OEM cable, and Googling the issue gave me the suggestion to flp the ends of the cable and (I do have a good grasp of hardware knowledge and I'm still confused why this would make a difference) it worked and I went through the updates smoothly. At one point I did had to flip the cable again to make it stay in Storage mode.

I really hope that OM System (are working on and) will come out with at least 2 major updates for the OM-1 (version 2.0 and 3.0) with improvement on AF-C and Subject Tracking and maybe add a feature here or there ... Instead of going down the Sony route and gatelock everything behind a new purchase.

The f-mount Nikon 50mm f/1.8G Special Edition arrived. It is in fantastic condition...but I totally forgot just how slow it is to focus compared to the new Z lenses. it's not that big a deal though.

Slow? Really? I was never overly fond of the lens and actually gave it away but it's focusing speed was not something I had an issue with :) Be fun to try a Z someday!

Good Evening,

I have a "Soap Bubble Monster" on the way; the TTartisan 100mm f2.8 triplet. Much less expensive (by a factor of 9X) than the Meyer Optik Trioplan V2. It is fitted with the M42 mount, so pretty easy to adapt to all of the FF camera bodies I have.

Regards,

Edd

Will do; scheduled to arrive on Saturday so I will get some time with it over the weekend. I have a cheap "chipped" M42 to EOS adapter to start with and have ordered a couple of programmable Dandelion AF chips from a trusted seller in Ukraine.

Sounds very intriguing, I guess anything to help nail the focus (alongside focus peaking and magnification). I would guess that even the cheap and cheerful Chinese lens manufacturers have decent enough lens coatings to keep the contrast good enough for manual focus. I would be quite interested to use the lens in the forest (mainly summer and autumn) for extra bubbly from the foliage, also the foliage tunnels we have here in UK along the many public footpaths.

I think I need to seek professional help, but I have bought (yet) another Think Tank bag.

I really like the Retrospective series (I already have the 20 v2.0 and the backpack) but wanted something smaller and more shallow. I have been knocking around with the Mirrorless Mover 30i which is a great size but requires me to stack lenses and I had a chance to compare it to a 7 v2.0 last week and they are pretty similar. Doing an idle search on an auction site I spotted a Retrospective 6, which is the only one that had "mid" dividers which would allow me to create 2 rows so I have grabbed it - it is very similar size to the 7.

I now have two TT Digital Holsters, Mirrorless Movers 20, 25i and 30i and Retrospective 6, 20 and Backpack - I think it might be time to start trying to offload some of them :)
