GAS GAS: Please Share your Latest Acquisitions Big and Small

Good Afternoon,

The TTartisan 100mm f2.8 Triplet (Soap Bubble Bokeh Monster) came in early this morning. Here are a couple of teaser shots, as I will do a very short review a bit later.

Update: here is the link to my review

Regards,

Edd

TTArtisan M-E 6 bit Adapter II. I ordered it direct from TTArtisan, it took about a week to get here and they included a ver nice lens/body rap. The adapter is well built and very light. It reads all of my 6 bit lenses with the exception of the Summarit 35/2.4. It reads it as a 35/1.0 for some reason. The ability to use Leica M mount lenses on the Sony A7CR with EXIF data recorded is very nice. The whole setup is smaller and more versatile than my Q2. So far I’m happy with this setup and the A7CR in particular.

Maybe give the Monster M adapter with Autofocus for FE a go. If you don't shoot fast moving objects you could get some really awesome autofocus Leica lenses on the Sony. (I was quite tempted by that adapter to use with other lens mounts like M42, M39, Pentax K and Olympus OM.

I have thought about the Techart AF adapter but I am fine with MF on my M mount lenses. I have enough AF lenses to use when I want AF. The $399 price is just not worth it to me.

Good Afternoon,

I did a bit of early "Black Friday" last Friday and got a couple of lenses for the high school indoor sports season that I've had my eye on. I rented this pair last year (LensRentals) and I feel that the purchase was worth it. They are made with the Canon EF mount, without the block that normally excludes their use on anything other than APS-C format bodies. I did use them successfully with my 1.3X CF bodies (1D Mk III, 1D Mk IV) without any issues, so the coverage is really good. I will also adapt them to the Canon R7 and see what happens on a FF body too...:)

Regards,

Edd

Sent that TTA 7.5 fisheye back to the warehouse. Just wasn't satisfied with the output, especially wide-open.

Did end up getting On1 2024 upgrade instead. They have a promo going currently to make it a little cheaper. NOV15 code, I believe. Might only be good for a couple more days. It does offer a few speed improvements for browsing and such. And I'm familiar with the UI after buying 3 versions over the last 5 years.

I just got the ON1 upgrade, with a bunch of extras (various LUT's) and it looks good so far. Sorry to hear that the TTA 7.5mm didn't work out for you; I have the 7artisans version and it just "okay" for MFT. I use a Canon FDn 15mm f2.8 on FF when I need good overall sharpness and low flair.

Ever since Olympus became OM system some years ago, the employee discount I was privy to fell from 50% off, to 30% off. Imagine my surprise when logging onto their site the other night I saw the 50% off pricing was back in effect! Well, for everything but the 150-400 which has no discount. I’ve been curious about the 20mm f/1.4 since it came out, and for the price, decided to treat myself to one for Christmas. I’ve listed my PL 15mm and TTartisan 23mm, which whenever they sell will fully cover the cost. Now…to avoid the GAS caused by an $1100 OM-1. I also wish I had waited on the OM-5 purchase I made back in February for $840, as I could have only spent $600 - although who could’ve predicted that?

Well, us common-folk have to pay closer to full price. I have a fondness for the O25mm 1.8, and KEH had a good one there. While the PL25 1.4 is technically superior, I’ve always loved the smaller size and great output of the Oly version.

I was also fortunate to find a PL 9mm 1.7 for a good discount at Mapcamera. It was an even better price because it was missing the hood. I’ll figure that out later, but I’m pretty excited about this one for a light and compact astro lens.

I too listed a couple items to assist. IMO, if I’m gonna shoot M43, size and weight are big factors in what I’ll have in the bag.

Lucky dude! Hahah. I've wanted to try that lens out as well. Maybe one day.

A Viltrox 16mm 1.8. On paper, pretty amazing bang for the buck. Especially used - like new.
We'll see. Should be here tomorrow.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I really like Viltrox's latest offerings. Especially the 13 and 75. Very well built and designed lenses with excellent performance.

Mapcamera is the Jimmy Johns of Camera retailers. It's amazing how quickly something can get here from literally the other side of the hemisphere. To give you an idea, something I ordered from KEH in Georgia on the same day got here maybe 4 hours sooner today. I know there's an international date line and all, but sheesh.

Anyway, here's an indication of just how small the PL9mm 1.7 is, sitting next to the tiny 9-18. The crazy thing is, I think Panasonic could have probably made this in an even smaller diameter barrel, but they don't really go much smaller for most of their lenses. It's a light lens too. Should make for an easy travel companion.

I don't know if anyone has ordered direct from Panasonic before, but they use a company called Encompass, and they've already shipped the lens hood. I didn't expect it to be that fast, especially since I picked the cheapest option, and on a Sunday.
